Broadheath's History
The worlds first industrial park was founded in Broadheath in 1885 my the Earl of Stanford.The site provided for engineering companies, particularly machinery and tooling workshops.
Joseph Lawrence, Lord Kelvin Stilson Hutchins brought three experimental machines from America to the UK and set up The Linotype Company.
This gained huge interest from the printing and newspaper industries.
The factories needed workers who were reliable and skilled so houses to accommodate them so a housing estate was built nearby.
