Carrington's History
Carrington was started up by the farm workers from the Stamford Estate.
Over the years the buildings have improved with some architecture still intact
Carrington as a word has many suggested meanings from old English but the most common seems to mean "estate associated with a man called Cara" The name could also come from caring, meaning "tending or herding" or cring, which means "river bend" Carrington was previously known as Carrintona in the 12th century.
Carrington had many major companies come to the area shortly after the war including. Shell set up a large processing plant and Central Electricity Generating Board which built a now decommissioned power station.
