A homecare provider offering services to vulnerable people across Warrington achieves highest possible overall rating from the Care Quality Commission

A Leigh-based company that helps adults maintain their independence by supporting them to continue living in their own homes, is celebrating after a recent inspection.

Right at Home North Cheshire and Leigh has joined an exclusive club of homecare organisations to receive an ‘Outstanding’ rating from the Care Quality Commission (CQC), highlighting the high-quality, trusted homecare services they deliver across Warrington, Leigh, Lowton, Culcheth, Croft, Winwick and surrounding areas.

Only two per cent of homecare providers inspected have achieved an Outstanding CQC rating, with an even smaller percentage doing so in their first full inspection. Right at Home North Cheshire and Leigh is currently the only private homecare service in the Warrington area to receive this exceptional rating.

Right at Home provides companionship and support to people in their own homes. The company, which began operating in 2017, currently supports around 30 Clients with services including personal care, companionship, specialist dementia care and live-in care. Since it opened it has been consistently recognised as one of the top homecare providers in the North West by independent website homecare.co.uk, which bases its annual awards on Client reviews.

Within the inspection, which took place over three days from 23-25 May 2018, Clients and their relatives told the CQC that services were of a consistently high standard. Comments included;

“I had a lovely warm glow when I was at Mum’s last Friday. The CareGiver and mum were in the lounge together and I could hear them both laughing out loud. It’s a good while since I heard mum laugh like that”.

“I feel so fortunate to have them. It’s like one big extended family, I can’t say any more than that.”

Right at Home North Cheshire and Leigh is only the second provider in the Right at Home UK network to be rated as outstanding overall – the highest possible rating in the CQC’s Ofsted-style system. The Right at Home network of 52 locally-owned and managed businesses is also the most highly rated national homecare agency with an overall 9.6/10 rating from over 750 ratings.

Inspectors saw that the service “ensured people were at the heart of their care and support” and that “people received a high standard of person-centred care”. The report described CareGivers as “exceptionally kind, caring and considerate.” It said, “People and relatives we spoke with, were extremely positive about the relationships they had formed with both CareGivers and the service as a whole.”

Speaking about the service, a relative of a Client said; “One thing I like is it’s not just about mum, the family are important too and it’s evident with this company they understand that. It’s also clear mum is not just another call to them, they genuinely care for her.”

Commenting on the results of the CQC inspection, Julie Houston, Owner of Right at Home North Cheshire and Leigh said;

“It is my aim that we deliver a local service that supports the people of Warrington and Leigh to maintain their independence, offers rewarding job opportunities and gives back to our communities.

“Our focus is on improving the quality of life of our Clients and their families and we can do that by helping to build brilliant relationships between CareGivers and the individuals they support.

“We are beyond thrilled to be rated Outstanding in our first ever inspection, and I would like to personally thank our team of dedicated CareGivers for their hard work and dedication.”

Providers receive an overall ‘Outstanding’ rating when they receive ‘Outstanding’ for two of the five categories of their inspection. Right at Home were rated Outstanding for three of these categories; caring, responsive and well-led, and Good for safe and effective. Among the reasons for the Outstanding rating was the CareGivers going ‘above and beyond’, reacting to changing situations immediately and support for employees.

Ken Deary, Right at Home UK CEO added;

“All of the team at Right at Home UK would like to pass on our sincere congratulations to Julie and the team in North Cheshire and Leigh. We are delighted that their Outstanding efforts have been recognised by CQC.”
