Dementia & Parkinson's Activities and Support
"Meaningful activity provides a person living with dementia a sense of purpose and routine. It acknowledges and uses the skills and life experiences of a person with dementia. Emotionally nurturing experiences increase self-esteem and help a person to feel valued."
Open ArtBoxRelaxed and friendly art workshops for those living with early-stage dementia or mild cognitive impairment and their carers. Led by professional artists and experienced volunteers.

Kingfisher ClubFirst Garden Cities Homes Housing Association runs 2 Kingfisher Clubs in Letchworth for people with low to moderate dementia. Regular activities include chair clock cricket, seated exercise and art sessions. These are held on:

The ability for people with dementia to connect through music makes Herts Musical Memories singing sessions so special and valuable for those who attend. Big MoversBig Movers is an exercise group for people living with Parkinson's, held in a relaxed and friendly environment. However, older people are also welcome who do not live with Parkinson's, as the exercises are easy for older people.

The Red ShedThe Red Shed provides garden activities and experiences for people living with Dementia, their families and carers. On site, there is also a cafe called Al's Cafe at the Red shed, where you can get tea and biscuits. A range of different activities are offered across the week:

Healthy Memory CafeWeekly drop-in sessions for anyone living with dementia or worried about their memory. Guests are welcome to pop in for a cup of tea, a chat, or information and support. A family member or carer is also welcome to come along, offering a change to spend some quality time together in a relaxed environment.

Music 24Fun musical sessions offered to people living with Dementia, no musical knowledge is required! Group sessions held by those taken part, combined with trained staff. People can sing and write songs, make music or improvise. 1:1 sessions are also offered, which can be held in someone's home or care home. Sessions are held in Stevenage, the address is provided after application. Senior Chair Keep FitGentle exercise classes designed to use all the muscle groups, led by a qualified exercise teacher. This class is suitable for older, disabled or less mobile people. Most of the exercises can be done sitting down or in a wheelchair. Classes that are good for the body and mind, and created to be fun!
There is also a lunch club which takes place on Tuesday's, Thursday's and Friday's. |

This is an active class, where guests can learn a routine of simple moves to the likes of The Beatles and Rolling Stones. These classes help build stronger muscles, improve stamina, mobility and flexibility and have an overall goal of making you stay active for longer!

MS Society Social Club and Seated ExerciseWeekly sessions for people with Multiple Sclerosis (MS), offering a range of activities including Pilates, followed by a lunch cooked on premises. An exercise therapist will work with you help improve movement.

Body and SoulWeekly exercise classes to help slow the ageing process, held in a fun environment where guests can meet new people.
