Events in Royal Wootton Bassett

On Wednesday, 29th May 2024, Royal Wootton Bassett's Wednesday Farmers Market will temporarily move to Boroughfields Car Park for 16 weeks due to refurbishment work on the historic Town Hall. Market hours will remain from 8:30 AM to 2:00 PM.

The Town Hall, Royal Wootton Bassett’s most iconic landmark, was built in the late 17th century thanks to the Hyde family, who also renewed the town’s market charter. Originally, the building featured a council chamber on the upper floor, supported by 15 pillars, while the ground floor served as a market storage area and housed a lock-up for overnight detentions. After extensive restoration in 1889, the lock-up was removed, and today the Town Hall is home to a museum, open on Wednesdays and Saturdays from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM.

Additional community events include a weekly coffee morning at the methodist church every Tuesday from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM, and a drop-in lunch on the first Tuesday of each month at noon.
