Career Development in Homecare: Right at Home Shares Insights

We were recently invited to speak to year 2 students of the HND Healthcare Professions' Support course at Telford College. The session focused on the importance of personal and professional values, leadership principles for care professionals, as well as the future of care and how Right at Home's real-time care management systems support clients to live safely within their own homes.

Owner and Director, Bright Gurupira emphasised the importance of personal and professional values such as compassion, respect, integrity, and teamwork, as well as behaviours such as being proactive, communicative, and adaptable. He also discussed leadership principles such as empowerment and accountability, and how these can help care professionals create a positive and supportive work environment and provide the best possible care to their clients.

In addition, we spoke about the many career progression opportunities available in social care and highlighted how Right at Home supports its employees in achieving their career goals through a variety of opportunities, including internal courses, externally provided RQF courses and work placements. Bright also shared examples of Right at Home employees who have progressed into senior and management roles after starting out in CareGiver positions.

The presentation was well-received by the students, who gained valuable insights into the working environment and career progression in care.
