What did you do before joining us?

I have worked in the care industry on and off since 1978. Initially I worked with clients with mental health needs and later I worked with people with learning disabilities. Both areas of care a wide spectrum of conditions.

Why did you choose a career in care?

From a young age I've always enjoyed helping others, so it was a natural progression to work in this profession.

What does a typical day at work look like for you?

There is no typical day for me as such as each day is different. Every day centres around the needs of the individual that l am supporting.

What do you find most rewarding about your role?

Finding any small way I can to empower the individual.

Describe a memorable moment as a caregiver

Being nominated for a regional award for going above and beyond and making a difference. This came as a surprise as l didn’t feel I was doing anything out of the ordinary.

What are your interests or hobbies?

I enjoy dancing, cooking, baking, sewing, cycling walking, cruising and travelling.

Do you have any hidden talents?

My hidden talent is that I make the most amazing bread!

Best piece of advice you have ever received?

To stay true to yourself.

What do you like most about being part of the Right at Home team?

Getting to know my colleagues and being approachable. Making colleagues feel welcome especially if they new to the role.

What’s the most interesting thing you have learnt in the past month?

To make every day a special day in some way and to take time to appreciate the little things that we don't always notice.
