What Makes Us Different?

What our team tell us is what we do differently from other care companies

Published: 12/11/2024

Here at Right at Home Reading & Wokingham District, we often talk about how we do things a little bit differently to most other care companies, and how we believe that translates into a better quality service to our clients. We are sure that this is in large part a result of our well-trained, well-supported, highly-motivated team of professional CareGivers who ‘go the extra mile’ and truly make a difference to their clients lives every day.

We point to the years of evidence in terms of client satisfaction surveys and the wonderful feedback we get directly from our clients in day to day conversation with them and the regular catch up sessions we have with them; and indirectly via the thoughtful reviews that our clients post to websites like homecare.co.uk.

It gives us confidence that we’re on the right track as a team, and our efforts in consistently delivering great quality care & support to our wonderful clients and their families who place their trust in us, is paying off for those clients, and giving amazing job satisfaction for our dedicated CareGivers.

We have an unshakeable belief that to deliver great care, to a quality level we’d want for our own parents and grandparents, wider family and friends, we need to care for our CareGivers just as much as we care for our clients. We need to provide them with the support and confidence they need, and the space to develop and grow into a role that can be one of the most fulfilling and rewarding of all.

So what really makes us different?

Recently we were asked to explain that in more human terms, over and above the many things what we do in terms of approach, policies, procedures and the support & training we give our team – compelling as those things are. To answer that, rather than give one person's personal opinion, we thought that we’d share with you what our whole team tells us.

If you’ve followed Right at Home for the last few years, you will know that every year we ask a respected independent market research organisation (called WorkBuzz), which specialises in workforce engagement across many industries / business sectors,  to develop and implement 2 important Surveys for us.

Workbuzz anonymously surveys every client and every Right at Home staff member, nationwide. Collecting candid feedback directly from the clients, AND the caregivers who are out every day of the year supporting our clients to maintain a good quality of life independently in their own homes.

In 2024, for the 6th year running, our Twyford-based team participated fully in this survey and answered a wide range of questions about how they feel about working at Right at Home. As a management team, we don’t see the individual responses. But we do get feedback from WorkBuzz after they have collated and analyzed all the data. WorkBuzz apply their expertise and experience in interpreting the results and rate each Right at Home office against their benchmarks from the employee engagement surveys they do for thousands of organisations large and small across many industries (not only Care).

Once again, the 2024 Survey resulted in us being presented with a 5*Star Employer Award (based on the WorkBuzz metric “Staff Engagement” together with an extremely high response rate to the exercise – all but one member of our team responded).

3 of the (many) questions asked in the 2024 survey reveal some of those human aspects of being a CareGiver within our organisation, that make all the difference to our team and contribute to their motivation to deliver the best care… So here are those questions, together with all the comments that were made by those team members who chose to add them (optionally and anonymously):

We don't think such strongly positive feedback from both clients and the team that supports them is a coincidence.   We think it's the Right at Home Reading & Wokingham District difference.
