Building Community Connections
Right at Home Tyneside and Ponteland Bowls Club
Published: 12/09/2024
At Right at Home Tyneside, we're always looking for ways to build strong community connections that benefit both our clients and local residents. That's why we're proud to announce our new partnership with Ponteland Bowls Club (PBC). This collaboration is designed to encourage our service users to get involved with local activities, stay active, and enjoy the sense of community that PBC provides.
Why Ponteland Bowls Club?
Ponteland Bowls Club has a rich history and is deeply embedded in the Ponteland community. With its welcoming environment and commitment to inclusivity, it's the perfect place for our service users to enjoy physical activity and social interaction. We're excited to team up with PBC to offer our clients an opportunity to experience these benefits.
Activities for Service Users
Through this partnership, our service users will be able to take part in free taster sessions at Ponteland Bowls Club. These sessions are a wonderful way to stay physically active, learn a new skill, and meet new people. The bowls club offers a safe and supportive environment, making it accessible to everyone, regardless of experience or fitness level.
The Benefits of Bowls
Bowls is not only a fun and engaging sport, but it also offers a range of health benefits for people of all ages and abilities:
- Physical benefits: Bowls encourages gentle physical activity, which can help with mobility, coordination, and balance. It’s a low-impact sport that’s ideal for those looking to stay active without placing too much strain on their joints.
- Social benefits: As a community-focused sport, bowls fosters social interaction, reducing isolation and helping individuals build new friendships. It’s a fantastic way to connect with others while enjoying a shared activity.
- Mental benefits: Playing bowls requires concentration and strategy, making it a great way to keep the mind sharp. The sense of achievement that comes from improving skills or winning a match can also boost self-esteem and mental well-being.
Upcoming Macmillan Coffee Morning
As part of our ongoing commitment to community support, we are also hosting a Macmillan Coffee Morning in partnership with Ponteland Bowls Club. Join us on Friday 25th October from 9:30 am to 12:30 pm at the Bowls Club on Darras Road to enjoy a cup of coffee, some delicious treats, and help raise funds for Macmillan Cancer Support. This event is open to everyone, and all proceeds will go directly to support those affected by cancer. We hope to see you there!
