Choosing the right home care company is a big decision, so how can you be sure that your care provider can be trusted to deliver the best possible care and support?

Whether you are looking for home care for yourself or an elderly parent or relative, you want to be sure that you can trust the company you choose to support your needs.

Here at Right at Home Tyneside we pride ourselves on providing the best quality care for all of our clients across Newcastle and North Tyneside, and have signed up to the Social Care Commitment to make a public declaration that we promise to deliver safe, higher quality services to people who need care and support.

What is the Social Care Commitment?

The Social Care Commitment is the adult social care sector’s promise to provide people who need care and support with high quality services.

It is made up of seven ‘I will’ statements that are underpinned by tasks that focus on the minimum standards required when working in care.

The commitment aims to increase public confidence in the care sector and raise workforce quality in adult social care.

What are we doing?

Right at Home Tyneside have signed up to the Social Care Commitment to endorse the work we are already doing and to identify new ways to increase the quality of service we provide.

We promise that we will:

  • Take account of potential employees’ values, attitudes and behaviours when recruiting new staff.
  • Provide thorough induction for all new staff and for those changing job roles.
  • Provide timely, appropriate and accessible education, training and development opportunities to enable our employees to develop and strengthen their skills and knowledge.
  • Encourage everyone we employ to sign-up to the Social care Commitment and to commit to any codes, standards or registration systems applicable to their job role.
  • Take responsibility for the values, attitudes and behaviour that my employees display during their work, including upholding and promoting equality, diversity and inclusion.
  • Regularly monitor the skills and behaviour of everyone we employ, ensuring that feedback is gathered from anyone they support or have direct contact with, including families and carers.
  • Work to ensure a positive culture and working environment where all employees are supported to meet their commitments under the Social Care Commitment.

Although Right at Home Tyneside has signed up to the Social Care Commitment as a company, there is much more we can do to support the initiative.

We are celebrating Social Care Commitment week between 7th – 13th December by supporting our employees to signing up to make their own promise to go the extra mile and provide exceptional care to the clients they support.

Our Carers will be able to make their own commitment by choosing the tasks they will complete, and they will have their own development plan to work through with the full support of their colleagues and team leaders.

This will help our experienced home care staff to improve their skills, confidence and abilities, and will give new members of our care team a better understanding of the job and what is expected of them.

The Social Care Commitment is a great way for us to demonstrate what we are already doing well and give you reassurance that our staff are highly trained and constantly updating and developing their skills and knowledge.

What does this mean for you and your loved ones?

The Social Care Commitment is an indicator of quality, helping you to make an informed choice and have greater control over the quality of care you receive.

Our commitment gives you confidence in us and our ability to deliver specialist home care services.

You already know that we recruit the best carers who go the extra mile every day, so our commitment to supporting and developing our care team gives you the peace of mind that you or your elderly loved ones will always receive support from highly skilled home care staff who genuinely care about their clients.
