Right at Home UK’s Director of People and Brand Heather Wehrle is celebrating after picking up the Rising Star Award at the annual Home Care Awards.
Sponsored by Home Care Insight, the Rising Star Award pays homage to individuals who have made a lasting impact on their organisations and the homecare sector. It also recognises those who are set to be true influencers in the sector over the coming years.
The highly respected awards took place on Wednesday 22 March at a glittering ceremony held at the National Conference Centre in Birmingham with more than 100 social care businesses and individuals in attendance. The awards recognise and celebrate the achievements of the homecare industry, those within it, and its incredible impact across the UK.
The judges praised Heather’s commitment to the entire social care sector and were impressed by the impact she has had on our special network since she joined from the training sector seven years ago.
Speaking on her award win Heather said: “I had no idea my colleagues nominated me for this award, so I am incredibly humbled that they went out of their way to do this. My passion for the homecare sector has grown exponentially since I started seven years ago. I’m honoured to be recognised among so many incredible individuals in homecare.”
During the award ceremony, we were also recognised as Highly Commended in the Team Support Expertise and Most Outstanding Homecare Group categories. In a year where the sector has faced so many hurdles and curveballs, including recruitment challenges, the cost of living crisis and funding changes, we were up against some of the most resilient homecare providers.
The judges praised our determination to campaign for the sector and fight for its reputation on a national scale. They were also impressed by our commitment to sharing expertise with fellow providers; a true sign of our commitment to shaping the future of social care.
Lucy Campbell, CEO of Right at Home UK, commented: “I’m absolutely delighted that Heather has received such recognition for her superb endeavours, both for Right at Home and indeed the wider social care sector. Her journey with us has been incredible – joining as our Training and Recruitment Manager back in 2016 and then rising successfully in seniority to secure her most recent position as our Director of People and Brand at the start of this year. Heather has been instrumental in navigating our valued network through some of the most challenging times, with a firm focus always on new and innovative ways to tackle the various sector specific conundrums we are faced with on a daily basis – ultimately aiming to drive positive change for the greater good of social care.
“It was also pleasing to see Right at Home being Highly Commended in two categories- which is deserved recognition for the amazing efforts of our Franchise Owners, Managers, their superb teams, and my wonderful colleagues at National Office. The Home Care Awards celebrate the best businesses in our sector so to be recognised among so many phenomenal providers is always very humbling. We are extremely passionate about providing person-centred care to our communities and driving sector standards, so I’m delighted this has been acknowledged once again.”
Our network is no stranger to taking home awards, as we were recently awarded Elite Franchise’s Most Outstanding Franchise award. One of our longest running offices, Right at Home Cardiff and Newport also recently had reason to celebrate as they were crowned National Winners of the ‘Three R’s (Recruitment, Retention and Recognition’ award at the Great British Care Awards 2023.
