International Women’s Day: Celebrating the amazing achievements of the women in our network

This International Women’s Day, we are proud to shine a spotlight on the incredible accomplishments of the women from across our network.
From CareGivers and Registered Managers, to Franchise Owners and senior leaders across all departments, we are in awe of their passion for providing exceptional care to older and disabled adults in their own homes.
Here are just some examples of women achieving great things in their careers at Right at Home, including the prestigious awards they have received for their dedication to their staff and Clients.
Lucy Campbell, CEO, Right at Home UK
Lucy joined Right at Home as a Senior Business Performance Manager nine years ago and quickly progressed through the ranks to become Chief Operating Officer, before being promoted to the role of CEO in 2022.
She continuously strives for excellence and embraces Right at Home’s core values of Trust, Quality, Compassion and Respect to guide her mission.
Under Lucy’s leadership, Right at Home secured 40 awards in 2023, but the CEO has also added to her personal list of accolades too. In November, she was named the Home Care Business Woman of the Year at the Women Achieving Greatness Awards. A panel of judges praised her “unparalleled dedication” to the Right at Home UK network, and for inspiring others in the care sector with her “resilient and optimistic” leadership.
Commenting on the importance of International Women’s Day in celebrating female professionals, she said: “I consider it a privilege to live in a country where, as a woman, I have been afforded the opportunity to have a seat at the boardroom table and have been supported throughout my career by men and women alike.
“Sadly, gender equality remains a significant issue around the globe – and so the 8th March stands as a day for men and women to unite together, for the critical importance of the entitlement to rights of equal standing, regardless of gender.”
Heather Wehrle, Director of People and Brand, Right at Home UK
Heather joined Right at Home as a training and recruitment manager in 2016 and, since then, her career has gone from strength to strength.
Over the last two years, Heather has taken Right at Home on a transformative journey with a deep-rooted mission to change the perception of social care, positioning it as a vital and rewarding sector.
Her outstanding efforts were recognised at the 2023 Encouraging Women into Franchising Awards when she was named Woman Franchise Employee of the Year. Also last year, she received the Rising Star accolade at the Homecare Awards.
Heather said: “I am proud to work in a sector surrounded by incredible women who make a phenomenal contribution to both business and the communities they serve. Despite the huge impact this critical, predominantly female workforce make, sadly we are still living in a time where there is gender pay disparity. According to the Kings Fund report – there is currently a 9.9% gap for care service managers across the UK.
“That’s why today on International Women’s Day and ultimately every day, it’s important to continue to spotlight the achievements and successes of female professionals everywhere.”
Amy Patel Popat, Co-Owner and Operations Director, Right at Home Solent & Southampton
Amy, a former Optometrist, opened the Right at Home Solent & Southampton franchise with her husband in 2015.
Since then, she has grown a dedicated team by supporting their wellbeing through various initiatives, mentoring them to reach their full potential, and cultivating an inclusive workplace.
In 2023, Amy won an Encouraging Women into Franchising (EWIF) Award for her achievements in promoting workplace diversity and fostering a welcome and secure working environment.
Commenting on her award win, Amy said: “It was so inspiring to be amongst so many ambitious women who must contend with having to work that little bit harder just to be noticed and taken seriously. It was an honour to receive the award.
She added: “It is a passion of mine to develop women to help them feel more confident, set boundaries, and see how they can balance their home life with work. I am still on a personal development journey too, and I pass on my learnings to women whenever I can.”
Alison Taylor, Registered Manager, Right at Home Bristol
After joining Right at Home Bristol as Registered Manager in August 2021, Alison has excelled in operational management and driven up standards of care.
Over the last two years, her passion and dedication has resulted in Client satisfaction scores increasing by 54% and employee satisfaction scores rising by 23% in surveys conducted by independent employee engagement expert, WorkBuzz.
Under Alison’s leadership, Right at Home Bristol has also improved its rating on the UK’s leading independent review site homecare.co.uk from 7.8 to 9.8/10.
Recognising her work, Right at Home awarded Alison the Registered Manager of the Year at our annual Celebration Awards.
Collecting her award, Alison said: “I’m absolutely overwhelmed. To win an award for a job I love is just brilliant. It’s really an achievement for the whole team because we have all worked so hard.
“What I love about Right at Home is that there is always someone you can go to for support. Lucy and the team at National Office are so passionate about what they do, and that’s great because you’ve got the same level of passion from the top, right the way down.”
Georgie Lewin, Senior CareGiver and Training and Quality Co-Ordinator, Right at Home Maidenhead
At the age of just 22, Georgie pipped her peers to the post to win the Young Ambassador of the Year Award at the Right at Home Celebration Awards.
She impressed the judges with her drive to progress her career at Right at Home, completing several courses to improve her skills, taking responsibility for overseeing Compliance and Training, and constantly thinking of new ways to grow the business.
Commenting on her success in the company, Georgie said: “There was a lot of support from behind the scenes. I was also quite confident in what I was doing, and with different career opportunities becoming available, I was pushed into more challenging roles.
“I’m so grateful for this because I’ve learned so much during my time at Right at Home.”
Today, and every day, Right at Home will continue to support the women in our network to achieve their full potential.
This month, we’ll host our second Women in Business event, with an agenda tackling challenges particularly relevant to female business leaders, such as ‘mental load’ – the responsibility for overseeing domestic tasks – and the associated impact this has on time management and work/life balance.
Right at Home has been named a finalist in the Excellence in Empowerment category at the Leading Women in Care Awards after launching this event last year, along with our nationwide menopause campaign.
