Right at Home Portsmouth achieves Outstanding rating by the Care Quality Commission

Right at Home Portsmouth has received a glowing inspection report from the Care Quality Commission (CQC), the independent regulator of health and social care in England.
During the 48 hours’ notice inspection, Right at Home Portsmouth, located in Trafalgar House, Portchester was rated overall ‘Outstanding”. This was the second time that the service, which was established in April 2016, had been fully inspected by the CQC.
Right at Home provides domiciliary care and support to people living in their own homes, predominantly in the Portsmouth district but extending to Waterlooville, Denmead and Hambledon. The service was rated one of the top 20 homecare providers in the South East, based on Client reviews, in the 2019 Homecare.co.uk awards, which highlights the most recommended homecare providers in each region of the UK.
According to the CQC report, one of the key strengths of the service was the strong emphasis on continuity of carers.
It said: “Relatives told us how impressed they were by their regular small teams of carers and how they always knew who to expect and that they have never had a carer they did not know.”
And continued: “Relatives expressed how this had had a hugely positive impact on their lives.”
In a previous CQC report, which was published in 2017, the service was found to be “Good” overall.
During the inspection on 18 December 2019, CQC representatives spoke with 4 Right at Home CareGivers, 7 Clients and family members, as well as the Care Manager and Business Owner.
After speaking with Clients and CareGivers, the CQC inspector noted the exceptionally positive care and support that Clients stated they received and their comments on the significant impact that this had on both Clients’ lives and those of their family members.
The report directly quotes one client’s family member saying: “They are a lifesaver for me. I get respite time that is really important.”
And another Client said: “They have such a positive impact on our lives.”
The CareGivers themselves were very complementary about the support provided to them. The report quotes one as saying, “They are great, very caring and supportive. They will always make sure that we are ok and have what we need to do our jobs.” Another said “It is the little personal things. I got a personal letter with really positive feedback.”
Joe Morgan, owner of Right at Home Portsmouth, commented: “I’m absolutely thrilled with our CQC report. We are passionate about developing care and support that meets the individual needs of our Clients and I’m delighted that this has been highlighted within this inspection. Our CareGivers are our most important asset and I am grateful for all of their efforts in making a difference to the lives of our Clients.”
Last month, the provider was also named a 5* employer for a second consecutive year by independent researcher WorkBuzz, following its annual CareGiver Satisfaction Survey.
